CHICAGO – June 6, 2011 City Capital Advisors, LLC, a Chicago-based middle market investment bank, announced today that Timothy Coleman and Matthew Phillips have joined the firm as Managing Directors.
“We are delighted to have investment bankers with Tim Coleman’s and Matt Phillips’ reputation, experience and expertise in advising closely-held private companies join our team,” said Dick King, co-founder of City Capital. “We believe that experience and expertise are of critical importance in the middle market,” added Mark Timmerman, City Capital co-founder. “Our success is a direct result of the commitment of our senior-most intellectual capital to every aspect of our clients’ engagements, and that is what Tim and Matt have been doing throughout their careers.”
Tim Coleman has been providing investment banking services to middle market companies for 25 years with The Chicago Corporation, Price Waterhouse Securities, McDonald Investments and, most recently, Dresner Partners. For the past 15 years, Mr. Coleman has focused exclusively on family-owned and closely-held private companies. “The aging baby boom generation has created significant value within closely-held private companies, and we are just now beginning to see what we believe will be a sustained wave of ownership transition activity,” observed Coleman. “The transactions associated with this activity require experienced investment banking perspective and hands-on execution, which are the principles on which City Capital was founded.”
Matt Phillips has over 17 years of legal and corporate finance advisory experience representing private companies. During the past 6 years, Mr. Phillips has worked closely with Mr. Coleman at Dresner Partners developing a practice focused exclusively on the corporate financial advisory needs of family-owned and closely-held private companies. Prior to that, Mr. Phillips was with the Chicago offices of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin and KPMG Corporate Finance LLC. Mr. Phillips began his career practicing corporate and transactional law at the Chicago-based firm of Bell, Boyd & Lloyd. “Successfully managing ownership transitions for closely-held private companies requires a very unique skill set and the ability to carefully navigate a wide array of personal and business concerns,” Phillips noted. “This trusted advisor role is something that each of the senior professionals at City Capital understands and values.”
